Brian Kessens

Brian Kessens joined Tortoise Capital in 2008 and is a Senior Portfolio Manager and member of the Investment Committee. Brian brings deep industry expertise in energy investing, informed by prior experience in energy investment banking and military leadership.

Before joining Tortoise Capital, Brian was a Vice President in Citigroup’s global energy investment banking practice. He previously served as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School. He is a CFA® charterholder and served as Board President and Treasurer for the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI), a Kansas City nonprofit supporting children with visual impairments to reach their highest potential in the sighted world.
