Brett Wright is President of Tortoise Capital, where he leads the firm’s strategic growth and works closely with CEO Tom Florence and the Board on firmwide initiatives. Since joining as the firm’s first Chief Revenue Officer in 2024, Brett has led the modernization of its distribution, marketing, and digital capabilities — expanding Tortoise’s reach across institutional and intermediary channels and sharpening its position as a specialist in energy and infrastructure investing.
Brett brings more than three decades of experience in asset management and distribution leadership. He most recently served as Partner, Managing Director, and Head of Distribution at AXS Investments, leading distribution strategy, and go-to-market execution for the entrepreneurial platform.
Previously, Brett spent more than a decade at Macquarie Asset Management in a series of senior leadership roles, including Head of Client Solutions Group Americas, where he led strategic initiatives across institutional and intermediary channels, both domestic and international. He also served on the firm’s 11-member Public Investments Executive Committee, responsible for firmwide strategy, budget, and significant investment decisions, and as Trustee, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Optimum Fund Trust, a Macquarie-affiliated mutual fund complex.
Brett earned a bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from The Pennsylvania State University, where he served as team captain of the football program. He holds Series 7, Series 63, Series 24, and Series 65 licenses.
Over his career, Brett has served on the board of the Money Management Institute (MMI) and held a long-standing board role with the Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI), an organization focused on elevating the standards and practices that ultimately serve the end client. He continues to volunteer with FLX Networks and Wealth Vista. An avid mountaineer, Brett has successfully climbed four of the world’s seven tallest summits.
